The Element of Freedom is Alicia Keys fourth studio album, and one I had been really looking forward to hearing, following her success with tracks ‘Empire State of Mind’ and Doesn’t Mean Anything’.
I love Alicia Keys’ style of powerful ballads and her clear talent on the piano. Tracks 4, 5 and 6 are my favourite on this album, with new release ‘Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart’ being an overall amazing record.
All of the songs on this album are pretty slow and there are a few that don’t have anything that stands out in them to make them good tracks which means you generally end up skipping straight through them.
However there are some great tracks and the passion and emotion in Alicia Keys’ voice alone can make you want to listen on. This album has made me book tickets to see her perform live, and as good as this album is, I think that is what the singer does best.
